Winter in WNY

Ahh, perfect day to get to the woods. This trail is called the Swallow Hollow Trail and is part of the Iroquois Wildlife Refuge.

Honestly, I only walk this trail in the winter. Part of the 1.3 mile trail is covered with gravel and that crunch crunch crunch is all you hear! But in the winter -- ahh, heaven -- quiet and peaceful. Just the way I like it.

At one point in the trail is a most beautiful grove of pine trees. My favorite part to wander around in. Magnificent. Pete just couldn't help but climb to the top of a fallen tree. He likes to get my heart pounding :)

  2. What a beautiful area you live in, the light in your woods in both the fall and winter photos is very special. You've got some amazing shots here. Makes me remember all the time I spent in upstate NY growing up (every 4th of July at Skaneateles, lots of summers in the Adirondacks or Lake Champlain, ski trips in the winter...). Beautiful.
